So you’ve read all the tutorials and guides on how to increase traffic to your blog, including the rather helpful BoydCreative article, and still nothing to show for your efforts. Well I have come up with two definitive ideas that will increase traffic to your blog.
Now my guess if you are reading this post, it is likely that you have not long started up a website and are looking to quickly get as many visitors to the site in as short time as possible. Well this was possible in the 90’s but due to millions of websites that now circle the web unfortunately this ain’t going to happen in today’s world.
So you have plenty of posts in your blog, and a few visitors reading them. But really you want to up there with the top dogs. Well here are 5 of the best ways to increase the amount of visitors to your blog posts.
1) Use Social Bookmarking At the End of Posts
One of the most commonly used plugins for this is Sociable. It has just about all the social bookmarks there are and it gives you the option of which ones to display. The one problem I found with this plugin was the icons were not quite big enough, but that can easily be changed by replacing the images. I prefer to use SexyBookmarks which has a bit more style. Social bookmarking is a great to attract more visitors to a post generally because the bookmark will rank higher in search engines than the pages its self, especially in smaller sites cases. You also have the possibility of getting onto the front page of a high traffic social bookmarking site.
For any website it is important to optimize images for the web. The obvious reason for this is to reduce loading times, and reduce disk space usage on your server. But it is also believed that optimizing images also increases your SEO. This due to shorter loading times, meaning more pages can be crawled in a quicker period of time.
So which are the best ways to do this. Well you either have the option of letting Wordpress optimize the image for you through a plugin, or you yourself could optimize them before up upload them. If you want to use a plugin, well there is only one that I know of that actually reduces the size of images, which is Image Optimizer Plugin. There are also other plugins that help image SEO by adding alt and title tags, but here we are looking to reduce the size.
